Lifetime Achievement Award To


Michael Gordon, was recently selected as one of the New Jersey Law Journal’s first-ever Lifetime Achievement Award winners. Gordon was named for his environmental law work over the last thirty five years.  Michael Gordon and his law firm, Gordon & Gordon, P.C., with offices in Springfield, New Jersey,  pioneered the representation in New Jersey of individuals and communities harmed by industrial pollution.  Gordon began his career at the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.  Gordon, in December of 2014, concluded a decade of work as outside lead Special Counsel representing the State of New Jersey and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection in the “Passaic River Litigation”.  The “Passaic River Litigation” recovered $355.4* Million for the State of New Jersey.  The total “Passaic River Litigation Settlement” represents the largest environmental cost-recovery case in the history of New Jersey and the single largest economic damages recovery case of its kind.

The New Jersey Law Journal stated that it sought to select “noteworthy individuals who have helped shape the law in New Jersey”.

In addition to Gordon, the list of Lifetime Achievement Award winners includes Samuel A. Alito, Jr., U.S. Supreme Court Justice, retired New Jersey Supreme Court Justices James R. Zazzali and Deborah Poritz and former New Jersey Attorney General John J. Farmer.

Gordon resides in Short Hills with his wife, Dr. Arlene Gordon and their three children, Jeremy, Carmel and Sarah.
