Federal Court victory against NJ transit

Victory Yields $5 Million* Benefits to the Township of Montclair

Partner Michael Gordon successfully represented the Township of Montclair during a hard-fought three-year battle with New Jersey Transit over the state’s plan to build a railroad connection through the town without adequately compensating both the town and its residents.

In 1996, Gordon was successful in getting Federal Judge William Bassler to issue a court order to block the project. After that court decision the parties voluntarily entered mediation, which resulted in the town receiving benefits worth $5 million*.
